Can we expect a new Spyro Game Soon?

Can we expect a new Spyro game soon? It has been a long time since we have seen the famous purple dragon, Sypro, in his fantastic trilogy, but there have been rumors that this is about to change. Are we about to see Spyro again, saving the world? Unfortunately, the only truthful answer is maybe, and that we cannot be sure yet.

The rumors of a revisiting of Spyro’s story have focused on a remaster of Spyro the Dragon, not an entirely new game. Unfortunately, there has not been any official confirmation of these rumors, so there is no release date, or even a guarantee that the rumors are true.

The rumors of the potential release of a new Spyro game came for an image that the Netherlands PlayStation page shared, which included some of PlayStation’s characters, including Crash Bandicoot, Parappa the Robber, Kat, Kratos and Spyro. The caption under the picture translates to “our twelve points go to.” This hints at a Eurovision song contest, although its relation to the characters is still unclear.

This picture was released in May, and there has no further confirmation or denial of the possibility of a remastered Spyro trilogy. During last year’s E3, it was announced that Crash Bandicoot, who is also featured in the picture, will undergo a remastering of the N. Sane Trilogy. Although people suspected (and hoped) that this year’s E3 would bring an announcement of a similar remastering of Spyro, that was not the case. This does not mean that a remastering of Spyro the Dragon is not on its way, but indicates that if we do see a remastered version, it will most likely be a while before it comes out.

For now, all we can do is eagerly hope that we will soon see the return of our favorite purple dragon. Meanwhile you can get yourself PSN credit and then buy yourself some of the old games on the PlayStation Network store.
