Upon the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro, gamers have been speculating when the PlayStation 5 will be announced for release. For the longest time, gamers only had the opinions of Damian Thong, who was accurately able to predict the releases of the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro. Thong claims that Sony will most likely be releasing the PS5 during the later part of 2018. However, hope was rekindled when Shawn Layden, head of PlayStation’s North American division, finally opened up in an interview about the PS5. Layden confirms that the PS4 Pro is not the last players are going to see of Sony, but also heavily implied that players would have to wait for the new system: “Where we go from there, we’re going to have to wait and see. … But there will be more PlayStations”.
Another analyst, Michael Patcher, voiced his own opinions about the release and features of the new PS5. He claims that the PS5 will be backwards compatible with the PS4 Pro, and because of that thinks the release date will be closer to 2019, or even 2020. With Layden confirming that the PS5 will be created, but that it will not be anytime soon, leads many players to believe that the release date could be even farther in the future. Another reason to believe a later release date is planned is because Sony is in competition with other gaming consoles, and with time could come up with new and better technology for their consoles.
The PS4 Pro already implemented 4K resolutions and HMD, but also comes equipped with a more stable image rate and larger capacity for storage. Some people are speculating that there will be drastic internal design changes, including putting in a graphics processing unit where the accelerated processing unit is. This means that graphics while playing games will up the ante, putting them in more competition with Microsoft Xbox brand. This rumor leads to the next speculation about the awaited PS5: with 4K resolution on the rise in gaming technology, it could be possible for Sony to come out with 8K resolution technology for the PS5.
While Bluetooth and wireless controllers has been establish for quite some time now, Sony is rumored to take that to the next level. It is speculated that Sony will release the controllers for the PS5 with the feature where they are able to charge wireless, even during game play. Tech Radar claims that because the PS5 will have enhanced virtual reality effects, Sony will come out with wireless headsets for the PS5 as well. If this wasn’t the icing on the cake, this next rumor is. To make the PS5 even more mobile and technologically advanced, Sony may scrap discs all together. If this happens, players expect that increased storage will be available so that games can be downloaded. This adds a level of discomfort for those who like to buy their games on discs, but this could be an impressive features nonetheless.
So what can you do to prepare for this new amazing console? We would recommend you to be patient but while waiting you might aswell top up some PSN codes, so that you’re ready to buy the new games for the PS5.
